Happiness

We each make that choice moment to moment. We either choose to be upset, angry, worried, dejected etcetera, or we choose not to be. It’s that simple. I know it doesn’t always feel that simple when we are caught in the grip of a negative feeling 😟

The power to alter this is ultimately in our hands though. This is where the importance of being present to oneself plays a big part. So, we can see 👀 ourselves in the moment and choose to respond differently, whether that be to something happening externally or even to our own negative thoughts, trying to influence us one way or another. This will help strengthen us mentally by overcoming the habitual negative thought influence. Strengthen us physically because everything we do to put ourselves in a good mood positively influences our physical body. Strengthen us emotionally, because we are able to respond to a situation rather than react, (which isn’t always the best way to handle things) - as we all know. It strengthens us spiritually, because by actively working towards becoming more present to ourselves and choosing to be happy in the moment, we are ultimately practicing being peaceful rather than antagonistic or reactive.

It is important to mention here though, that being present in the moment and choosing to respond rather than react, does not mean to deny or resist our negative feelings.

We will inevitably experience the feelings of anger, resentment, worry, confusion etcetera. When they do surface in response to a situation, or to our own idle thoughts, we want to feel, sense and see how the feeling unfolds in our body and mind. Doing so will help us gain a better understanding of what the internal or external trigger to this was.

Let the feelings surface and experience them for a moment or two, whilst watching 👀, until they naturally dissipate. Doing so may take repeated attempts while building the presence required This way we are actively working to prevent them from lingering for hours, days or in some cases, years. So, the aim is to allow these feelings to come and go, without being drawn into their reactions, which can adversely affect our health, our well-being, our relationship with ourselves and others. Ultimately our life as a whole as well.

One way to lift our mood, apart from practicing the above, is to listen to some inspiring or uplifting music, such as:

Mariah Carey’s - ‘HERO’ ⭐

or

William Farrell’s - ‘HAPPY’ 😍

Remembering to smile during the day is another way of putting ourselves in a good mood and it can also affect others in a good way.

The Smile 🙂

Smiling is infectious. You can catch it like the flu.

When someone smiled at me today, I started smiling too.

I passed around the corner and someone saw me grin, when he smiled, I realised I’d passed it onto him.

I thought about that smile and then I realised its worth.

A single smile like mine could travel round the Earth.

If you feel a smile begin don’t leave it undetected. Let’s start an epidemic quick, and get the world infected.

TRY IT - IT WORKS❣
